Website Monitoring Alerts for Slack
Bring Slack website monitoring to your team: when Site Detection detects that your site is down, it posts a website down Slack alert into the channel you choose, and posts a recovery notification when the site is back. Setup takes a Slack incoming webhook and a paste into Site Detection.
Downtime + recovery alerts • Per-channel On/Off • Test button included
Set Up Slack Downtime Alerts
Six steps connect Site Detection to Slack. You create an incoming webhook in Slack, then add a Slack channel in Site Detection and paste the URL.
Create a Slack incoming webhook
In Slack, add an incoming webhook (via a Slack app with Incoming Webhooks enabled) and pick the channel where alerts should be posted.
Copy the webhook URL
Slack generates a webhook URL for that channel. Copy it — this is what Site Detection uses to post messages.
Open Alerts in Site Detection
In Site Detection, go to Alerts and add a new channel of type Slack.
Paste the webhook URL
Paste the Slack webhook URL into the channel and save it. This tells Site Detection where to send alerts.
Send a test
Use the test button to send a sample alert and confirm it appears in the Slack channel you chose.
Choose which monitors it covers
Assign the Slack channel to the monitors that should use it. Each monitor can use several channels at once.
What a Slack Alert Looks Like
When downtime is detected and confirmed, Site Detection posts a message like this into your channel.
example.com is unreachable.
Monitor: Marketing site · Detected after multiple failed checks.
example.com is reachable again.
Monitor: Marketing site · Recovery notification.
Because Site Detection confirms downtime with multiple checks before alerting, a Slack message means the site was genuinely unreachable — not just a single momentary blip.
Slack, Teams, and Beyond
Slack is one of several chat channels. Mix and match whatever your team uses.

Start Monitoring Your WebsiteFrequently Asked Questions
How do I get website down alerts in Slack?
Create an incoming webhook in Slack for the channel you want, copy the webhook URL, then open Alerts in Site Detection, add a Slack channel, and paste the URL. Send a test to confirm it works and choose which monitors use it. When downtime is detected, the alert is posted into that Slack channel.
How fast do Slack alerts arrive?
Site Detection posts a Slack alert when downtime is detected and confirmed with multiple checks, rather than on a single failed check. This avoids false alarms from a momentary blip while still notifying your channel when the site is genuinely unreachable.
Will I get a Slack message when the site comes back up?
Yes. In addition to the downtime alert, Site Detection posts a recovery notification to the same Slack channel when the site is reachable again, so your team sees both the start and the end of an incident.
Can I turn the Slack channel off or test it?
Yes. The Slack channel has its own On/Off switch and a test button in Site Detection. Use the test button to send a sample message and confirm delivery, and toggle the channel off at any time without deleting its settings.
